Bush Vetoes Stem Cell Bill

President Bush has decided to use the first veto of his entire presidency to block a bill on stem cell research (one that was solidly passed by a Republican congress I might add).  I’m listening to his speech explaining his action and one thing is becoming extremely clear…

…if you rely upon the President for your science information then you’re in trouble.  Not only is he pandering to his conservative Christian base but he is badly distorting the science of stem cell research to justify it.

It was bad enough a couple of years ago when he claimed there were 60-some embryonic stem cell lines available for research, a number that was nearly a pure fabrication.  Now he interchanges embryonic and adult stem cell research as if it were the same thing and misleads about the source of the cells.

Sad.
